According to officials, the response from filmmakers in India and abroad reflects growing interest in the Union Territory as a destination for filmmaking and cinematic collaboration.

The four-day festival will feature screenings of selected films, masterclasses, panel discussions, interactive sessions and cultural events aimed at bringing together filmmakers, industry professionals, students and cinema enthusiasts.

Officials said the festival is intended to promote artistic excellence, cultural exchange and cinematic innovation while showcasing the cultural heritage and filmmaking potential of Jammu and Kashmir. It also seeks to encourage greater understanding of global film cultures and strengthen international cooperation through cinema.

The curtain-raiser for the festival was held on July 17, when Chief Minister Omar Abdullah formally launched the event and invited filmmakers, producers, artists and cinema enthusiasts from across the world to participate.
