Youth dies of electric shock in Kupwara

KUPWARA-year-old man died after allegedly receiving an electric shock in the Dardpora area of Lolab in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Friday, officials said.

The deceased was identified as Arif Ahmad Ganie, son of Mohammad Hamza Ganie, a resident of Haji Mohalla, Dardpora.

Officials said Ganie allegedly came into contact with a live electric line outside a house in Haji Mohalla, sustaining critical injuries.

He was rushed to Sub-District Hospital, Lolab, where doctors declared him brought dead. Officials said he is believed to have succumbed to his injuries while being shifted to the hospital.

Police have taken cognisance of the incident and initiated proceedings to ascertain the circumstances leading to the electrocution. (KNT)
