SRINAGAR: Leader of Opposition in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Sunil Sharma on Friday visited the family of Head Constable Ashiq Hussain Qureshi in Budgam to offer condolences following his killing in the line of duty.
According to a BJP statement, Sharma paid tributes to the slain policeman and expressed solidarity with the bereaved family. He said the sacrifices of security personnel would always be remembered and assured the family of continued support.
During the visit, Sharma facilitated a telephonic conversation between Union Home Minister Amit Shah and the slain policeman’s son. The Home Minister conveyed his condolences to the family and assured them of the Union Government’s support during their time of grief, the statement said.
Sharma appreciated the Home Minister’s outreach, saying it reflected the Centre’s commitment to supporting the families of security personnel who lose their lives in the line of duty.
He also reiterated that the sacrifices of such personnel would continue to be honoured and that their families deserved respect, care and support, the statement added.
