SRINAGAR: A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) delegation on Friday visited flood-affected areas of the Chanapora constituency and urged the administration to expedite relief measures and develop a comprehensive drainage system to prevent recurring waterlogging.
The delegation, led by PDP spokesperson and Chanapora in-charge Mohammad Iqbal Tramboo, visited Padshah Bagh, Nadru, Nowgam, Peer Bagh and Rajbagh to assess the situation and interact with affected residents.
According to a party statement, residents complained of inadequate drainage, prolonged waterlogging, delayed response by the authorities and insufficient relief measures.
Tramboo urged the administration to intensify dewatering operations, restore essential services and provide prompt relief and compensation to affected families. He said the recurring flooding in Chanapora underscored the need for a comprehensive drainage system and long-term infrastructure planning.
The delegation assured residents that the party would continue to raise their concerns at appropriate forums and called for immediate government intervention to address the problems faced by people in the affected areas, the statement said.
