Srinagar: Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo on Monday reviewed the implementation of recommendations made by the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) to upgrade facilities at Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra base and transit camps and directed their timely execution to enhance pilgrim safety and comfort.
The recommendations were based on ground assessments carried out by CAPF teams during the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2026.
The meeting was attended by senior officers of the civil administration, Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board (SASB), police, CAPFs, BRO/BEACON, administrative departments and district administrations, besides the Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Deputy Commissioners, Senior Superintendents of Police of the concerned districts and Director Information.
During the meeting, Chief Executive Officer, SASB, Dr Mandeep K. Bhandari presented the observations and recommendations contained in the CAPF reports, while the concerned Administrative Secretaries and Deputy Commissioners briefed the Chief Secretary on the status of their implementation and timelines for completing the remaining works.
The recommendations include upgrading accommodation and other basic amenities at base and transit camps, improving sanitation and hygiene, strengthening firefighting arrangements, waterproofing tents and ensuring reliable power and water supply.
The meeting also reviewed measures to improve hygiene at community kitchens (langars), washrooms and bathing facilities, strengthen drainage systems and ensure safe electrical wiring of tents and camp infrastructure.
Discussions also focused on improving queue management, preventing overcrowding, streamlining traffic regulation, augmenting parking facilities and creating additional rain shelters along vulnerable stretches of the Yatra route.
Dulloo directed all departments and district administrations to examine each recommendation and ensure its expeditious implementation, stressing that the safety and well-being of pilgrims remained the government’s top priority.
He also asked departments to maintain close coordination, regularly monitor the progress of the identified works and address any shortcomings noticed during the ongoing pilgrimage before the next edition of the Yatra.
