Anantnag: Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo on Tuesday participated in the Murti Pratishthan Divas celebrations at the Mata Uma Bhagwati Shrine in Umanagri, Brariangan, Shangus, where a two-day Yagya and other religious programmes are being organised by the Uma Bhagwati Asthapan Trust.
Dulloo, who attended the function as chief guest, paid obeisance at the shrine and participated in the Kalash Pooja and other rituals. He prayed for peace, prosperity and the well-being of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
Deputy Commissioner Anantnag Dr. Bilal Mohi-ud-Din Bhat, senior district officials, members of the Trust and devotees were also present.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Secretary said the government was committed to preserving places of historical and spiritual importance. Referring to ongoing heritage conservation works at the shrine, he said the project would incorporate additional works aimed at improving facilities while preserving the sanctity of the shrine.
The Uma Bhagwati Asthapan Trust thanked the Chief Secretary for attending the celebrations and for assuring continued support for the preservation and development of the shrine.
The Trust also appreciated the role of the Deputy Commissioner and the district administration in coordinating arrangements for the smooth conduct of the religious event.
