Budgam: Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather on Saturday visited Pakherpora in Budgam district to meet families affected by a recent fire incident and directed the district administration to ensure immediate relief, assess the damage and expedite rehabilitation measures.
According to an official statement, Rather interacted with the affected families, expressed grief over the incident and assured them of all possible support.
He directed the administration to conduct a comprehensive assessment of damage to residential houses, household belongings and other property to accurately determine the extent of losses.
Taking note of the hardships faced by families whose houses were rendered uninhabitable, the Speaker instructed officials to arrange temporary accommodation by providing tents and ensuring the supply of free ration and other essential relief material without delay.
Rather also asked officials to complete the damage assessment on a priority basis to facilitate the timely disbursal of admissible relief and compensation, directing that no affected household be deprived of the assistance it is entitled to receive.
Reiterating his commitment to the welfare of the affected families, he asked the district administration to extend all possible assistance and take necessary measures for their rehabilitation and the restoration of normalcy at the earliest.
Sub-Divisional Magistrate Chadoora, Executive Engineer, Roads and Buildings, Charar-i-Sharief, and Block Development Officer, Pakherpora, accompanied the Speaker during the visit.
Later, Rather visited the family of a police personnel who was killed in an accident at Bailey Bridge in Chadoora and expressed condolences with the bereaved family, the statement added.
