Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Judicial Academy on Saturday conducted the 33rd day of its Pre-Appointment Induction Training Programme for Trainee Civil Judges (Junior Division), Batch-2026, along with a Continuing Judicial Education Programme for Judicial Officers of Batch-2020 at its Mominabad campus in Srinagar.
According to an official statement, the programme was held under the patronage of Acting Chief Justice of the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh Sanjeev Kumar and the guidance of Justice Rajnesh Oswal, Chairman of the Governing Committee of the J&K Judicial Academy.
The morning sessions were led by former Supreme Court judge Justice Rajesh Bindal, who spoke on the use of technology in the administration of justice and the application of artificial intelligence in the judicial system.
He highlighted the role of digital tools in improving efficiency, transparency and access to justice, and demonstrated platforms including the National Judicial Data Grid (NJDG), Electronic Supreme Court Reports (eSCR) and the Bhashini application. He also discussed the use of artificial intelligence in legal research, drafting, summarisation and transcription, while emphasising that AI could only assist judicial work and could not replace independent judicial decision-making.
The afternoon sessions were conducted by Justice Rahul Bharti of the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, who stressed the importance of continuous learning, legal research and professional discipline in judicial service.
He also highlighted the significance of clarity, analytical reasoning and precision in judgment writing, urging judicial officers to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, diligence and accountability throughout their careers.
Earlier, Director of the J&K Judicial Academy Naseer Ahmad Dar outlined the objectives of the day’s programme, which focused on technology, artificial intelligence, judgment writing, decrees and judicial orders.
The statement said the sessions were interactive, with participants engaging resource persons on issues relating to judicial administration, technological advancements and judicial decision-making.
