DC Ganderbal reviews arrangements for Urs of Hazrat Qamar-Ud-Din Bukhari (RA)

Week-long observance to begin on July 21; main congregation on July 25

Ganderbal: Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal Jatin Kishore on Saturday reviewed arrangements for the annual Urs of Hazrat Qamar-Ud-Din Bukhari (RA), directing departments to ensure all essential facilities are in place ahead of the week-long religious observance.

At a meeting with district officers and representatives of the Qamaria Auqaf Trust, officials were informed that the Urs will commence on July 21, while the main congregation is scheduled for July 25 at the shrine of Hazrat Qamar-Ud-Din Bukhari (RA) in Reshipora Saloora.

The meeting reviewed arrangements for uninterrupted power and water supply, healthcare, fire safety, sanitation, security, traffic management, transport and parking to facilitate devotees expected to attend the annual event.

The Deputy Commissioner directed all departments to complete the required arrangements before the commencement of the Urs.

The Fire and Emergency Services Department was asked to deploy a fire tender at the venue, while the Health Department was directed to station an ambulance along with medical staff and emergency medicines.

The Municipal Council Ganderbal was instructed to ensure cleanliness in and around the shrine premises and approach roads.

Police and Traffic departments were tasked with maintaining law and order and regulating traffic during the event, while the Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) was asked to make adequate transport and parking arrangements.

The Executive Engineer, KPDCL, was directed to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply during the Urs and keep a standby generator ready to meet any contingency.

Assuring full administrative support, the Deputy Commissioner said the district administration would ensure all necessary facilities for the smooth and peaceful conduct of the religious event.

The meeting was attended by the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Assistant Commissioner Development, Tehsildar Ganderbal, DySP Headquarters and representatives of KPDCL, PHE, R&B, ARTO and other departments.
