State Taxes Recovery wing reviews GST, VAT arrears, pushes faster recovery

Jammu: Deputy Commissioner State Taxes (Recovery), Jammu, Sapna Kotwal on Thursday reviewed the progress of recovery proceedings under the old GST, VAT and new GST regimes and directed officials to expedite the recovery of outstanding government dues.

Chairing a review meeting, Kotwal assessed the recovery performance over the past two months and expressed satisfaction over the progress made in recovering arrears both within and outside the Union Territory, according to an official statement.

She directed officers to intensify recovery efforts, ensure the prompt disposal of pending cases and adopt a focused approach to maximise revenue recovery. She also instructed that all proceedings be carried out in accordance with the relevant tax laws while maintaining transparency, accountability and coordination with the concerned authorities, including those outside Jammu and Kashmir where required.

The meeting also discussed measures to strengthen inter-state coordination, closely monitor high-value recovery cases and improve follow-up mechanisms to maximise recoveries within stipulated timelines.
