Srinagar: Secretary, Rural Development Department and Panchayati Raj, Mohammad Aijaz Asad on Thursday directed field officers to complete all pending houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) by July 30 and ensure strict adherence to guidelines while updating the beneficiary database.
Chairing a review meeting, Asad said Jammu and Kashmir has achieved 98 per cent completion under PMAY-G but stressed that the objective was to ensure that every eligible rural household receives a permanent house.
According to the progress report reviewed during the meeting, 3,34,611 houses have been sanctioned against a target of 3,35,452, while 3,26,558 have been completed, leaving 8,053 houses pending.
Reviewing district-wise performance, the Secretary directed Additional District Development Commissioners, Assistant Commissioners Development and Block Development Officers to monitor progress on a daily basis, resolve bottlenecks, ensure timely release of assistance and facilitate early completion of the remaining houses.
He also instructed officials to regenerate pending Fund Transfer Orders (FTOs) dated March 31, 2026 through the Awaas portal wherever payments have not been credited.
Asad warned that unjustified delays in completing houses would invite administrative action, observing that sufficient time and repeated extensions had already been granted.
He further directed district officers to ensure that no eligible beneficiary is removed from the PMAY-G database and said any deletion of ineligible beneficiaries must be carried out strictly in accordance with the PMAY-G 2.0 guidelines after due verification.
Reiterating the government’s commitment to “Housing for All”, the Secretary asked field functionaries to work in mission mode to achieve full saturation of the scheme within the stipulated timeframe.
