Srinagar: A delegation of military veterans and Veer Naris visited the Chinar Corps headquarters at Badami Bagh Cantonment ahead of the 27th Kargil Vijay Diwas celebrations, paying tribute to soldiers who laid down their lives in the 1999 Kargil conflict.
The delegation, organised by the Akhil Bhartiya Poorva Sainik Seva Parishad, arrived in Srinagar on July 13 and is scheduled to travel to Drass and Kargil as part of commemorative events marking the anniversary of India’s victory in the Kargil War.
Led by Major General P. Vivekananda (Retd), the delegation paid homage at the Chinar War Memorial, visited the “Ibadat-e-Shahadat” museum and toured sites showcasing the heritage and culture of Jammu and Kashmir.
According to an official statement, the visit forms part of the run-up to the Kargil Vijay Diwas observance, with a series of events planned in Srinagar, Drass and Kargil to commemorate the 27th anniversary of the victory.
The event also highlighted the contribution of ex-servicemen to nation-building and their engagement with society, while recognising the continued commitment and camaraderie of military veterans and Veer Naris.
