Srinagar: A lecturer who was critically injured in a road accident at Aglar Kalan, Magam, on July 8 succumbed to his injuries at the Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), Soura, on Sunday, officials said.
The deceased has been identified as Shabir Ahmad Dar, son of Sanaullah Dar, a resident of Gofabal, Kunzer in Baramulla district.
Shabir Ahmad Dar was among two lecturers injured after they were allegedly hit by a Creta vehicle near a private workshop at Aglar Kalan. The other injured lecturer, Manzoor Ahmad Malik, had succumbed to his injuries on July 9.
Police have registered FIR No. 88/2026 at Police Station Magam under Sections 125 and 281 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The driver of the vehicle has been arrested and further investigation is underway.
Meanwhile, MLA Gulmarg Farooq Ahmad Shah, Apni Party senior vice president Ghulam Hassan Mir, former MLA Mohammad Abbas Wani, PDP leader Shabir Ahmad Mir, Civil Society chairman Abdul Qayoom Wani, the All Jammu and Kashmir Lecturers’ Association, Teachers Forum Tangmarg-Kunzer, Bazm-e-Adab Gulmarg, Pensioners’ Association Tangmarg and the Gulmarg Press Club expressed grief over the lecturer’s demise and conveyed condolences to the bereaved family.
