ANANTNAG: Deputy Commissioner Anantnag Dr. Bilal Mohiuddin Bhat and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Amod Ashok Nagpure on Sunday separately visited the cloudburst-hit Awoora area in Pahalgam to review the damage, restoration work and overall situation.
The Deputy Commissioner, accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner Dr. Muzamil Maqbool Beig and senior officers of the Public Works, Jal Shakti and Power Development departments, inspected the affected areas and assessed damage to water supply schemes, electricity infrastructure, roads, river embankments, private property and other public assets.
He directed the concerned departments to expedite debris clearance, restore essential services on priority and deploy additional resources wherever required. He also called for long-term measures to minimise the impact of such incidents.
Dr. Bhat interacted with affected residents and assured them of all possible assistance, while stressing coordination among departments for the early restoration of drinking water supply, electricity and road connectivity.
Separately, SSP Nagpure visited the Awoora Nallah area to review the security and relief situation following the flash floods that damaged residential houses, commercial establishments and other property.
He directed police personnel to remain vigilant, maintain a strong presence in the area and coordinate closely with the district administration and other agencies. He also instructed officers to continuously monitor vulnerable locations and remain prepared to respond to any emergency.
The SSP appealed to residents to avoid vulnerable areas and strictly follow official advisories.
Meanwhile, Additional Deputy Commissioner Vikas Ahlawat also visited Awoora and other affected areas in Sallar to review restoration works. Accompanied by officers from the Jal Shakti, Public Works and Power Development departments, he directed officials to expedite relief measures, clear debris and restore essential services, while assuring affected families of all possible assistance.
According to the administration, personnel and machinery from the Jal Shakti, Public Works, Power Development and other departments have been deployed in the affected areas to restore essential services at the earliest.
