Jammu, July 10: Acting Chief Justice of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, Justice Sanjeev Kumar, on Friday inaugurated a newly created Advocates’ Clerks Room at the High Court Complex, Janipur, Jammu.
According to an official statement, the facility has been created to strengthen infrastructure at the Jammu wing of the High Court and provide dedicated space for advocates’ clerks, who assist the legal fraternity in the day-to-day functioning of the courts.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by Justice Sindhu Sharma, Justice Rajnesh Oswal, Justice Mohd Akram Chowdhary, Justice Wasim Sadiq Nargal, Justice Rajesh Sekhri and Justice Sanjay Parihar.
Speaking on the occasion, Justice Sanjeev Kumar expressed satisfaction over the creation of the facility and emphasised the need to enhance the digital literacy of advocates’ clerks, particularly in view of their role in the e-filing of cases. He also directed the formulation of a comprehensive training module to equip advocates’ clerks with knowledge of various aspects of court proceedings.
Registrar General M.K. Sharma, who is also holding the additional charge of Principal Secretary to the Chief Justice, officers of the High Court Registry, J&K High Court Bar Association, Jammu, President Nirmal Kotwal, senior members of the Bar, and representatives of the Advocates’ Clerk Association, including its President Mohinder Singh Nag, attended the function.
On behalf of the Advocates’ Clerk Association, Nag thanked the Acting Chief Justice, the companion judges and the Bar Association for fulfilling the long-pending demand for a dedicated room for advocates’ clerks.
