Srinagar: Khyber Cement has renewed its title sponsorship of the Kashmir Super League (KSL) for the 2026 season, extending its association with the franchise-based football tournament for a second consecutive year.
The renewal was formalised during a signing ceremony at the company’s corporate office in Hyderpora, Srinagar. The agreement was signed by Wasim Ahmed Khan, Chief Sales and Customer Relations at Khyber Cement, and Mushtaq Bashir, representing the Kashmir Super League, in the presence of the company’s senior management.
According to the company, the 2026 edition of the Khyber Cement Kashmir Super League will begin in August and will feature six franchise teams competing in 19 matches. Around 120 footballers from across Jammu and Kashmir are expected to participate in the tournament.
Speaking on the occasion, Khyber Cement Director Corporate and Strategy Umar Tramboo said the company’s continued support for the league was aimed at providing young footballers in the region with a professional platform to showcase their talent.
“We backed the Kashmir Super League last year to give footballers a professional stage and a real chance to be seen. That is the return we care about, and it is why we intend to stay the course for the long term,” he said.
Wasim Ahmed Khan said the success of the inaugural season had reinforced the company’s decision to continue its association with the league.
He said the previous edition demonstrated the potential of football in the region by attracting large crowds and providing local players with a competitive professional environment. He added that the company would continue working towards strengthening the tournament and expanding opportunities for young footballers.
According to the statement, the inaugural edition of the league drew significant public response at the TRC Turf Ground in Srinagar, establishing the Kashmir Super League as a prominent football tournament in the Valley.
The company said its support for the league forms part of its broader commitment to promoting sports and youth development in Jammu and Kashmir by creating platforms that enable young people to compete, perform and gain wider recognition.
