Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party on Tuesday said recent political developments had vindicated its long-standing demand for the restoration of statehood, claiming the issue had been central to the party’s agenda since its inception.
In a statement, party spokesperson Ishrat Bhat said the Apni Party had consistently advocated restoration of statehood as a practical and immediate demand, while alleging that political opponents had earlier criticised the party’s stand and instead campaigned on promises related to the restoration of Articles 370 and 35A.
Bhat claimed that the same parties were now prioritising the demand for restoration of statehood, saying the shift had validated the Apni Party’s position.
The spokesperson said the party welcomed all “sincere efforts” towards restoration of statehood and urged political parties to unite on the issue instead of engaging in political point-scoring.
“The people deserve honesty, consistency and action,” Bhat said, calling for a collective approach to press for restoration of statehood, the statement added.
