Jammu: Four children, who went for bathing in the Tawi River, were rescued after a sudden rise in the river’s water level left them stranded near the Peer Kho Temple here on Saturday, police said.

The Jammu Police and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) launched a coordinated rescue operation to save the four children, aged around 11 to 12, who were trapped in the river following a sudden rise in the water level, a police official said.

All four children were safely rescued without injuries, he said, adding that the timely intervention averted a potential tragedy and ensured their safety.

Following the rescue, a police officer used a public address system, urging people to stay away from the banks of the Tawi River, particularly during sudden fluctuations in the water level.

Parents were also advised to ensure that their children do not venture near the river, as sudden surges in water levels can pose a serious threat to life, especially during the ongoing Monsoon season.
