SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday accorded a warm welcome to pilgrims entering Ganderbal and Anantnag districts with the commencement of the annual Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2026, assuring them of comprehensive security and public facilitation arrangements.
In Ganderbal, Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Transport, Information Technology, Youth Services & Sports, Science & Technology and ARI & Trainings Satish Sharma, Deputy Inspector General of Police, North Kashmir Range Maqsood-ul-Zaman, Deputy Commissioner Jatin Kishore and Senior Superintendent of Police Sudhanshu Dhama welcomed the pilgrims and wished them a safe, peaceful and spiritually fulfilling pilgrimage.
The officials said elaborate security, traffic management and public facilitation arrangements have been put in place in coordination with the civil administration, Central Armed Police Forces, Health Department and other stakeholder agencies. They said dedicated Helping Hand teams, assistance booths and round-the-clock deployment of police personnel have been established to provide guidance, emergency assistance and ensure the smooth movement of pilgrims.
The visiting dignitaries also urged the yatris to follow official advisories and cooperate with security personnel throughout the pilgrimage.
In Anantnag, Senior Superintendent of Police Amod Ashok Nagpure welcomed the pilgrims and reiterated that comprehensive security and facilitation measures have been put in place in coordination with the civil administration and other agencies.
He advised pilgrims to follow official advisories, cooperate with security personnel and immediately report any suspicious activity or unattended object to the nearest police official.
J&K Police reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring a safe, secure and seamless pilgrimage for all devotees visiting the holy cave shrine.
