Traffic Advisory notified for tourists visiting Gulmarg during Yatra period

Srinagar: Police on Tuesday announced certain restrictions on the movement of tourists towards and from Gulmarg during the Yatra perid.

“In order to ensure the safe, secure and seamless movement of Amarnath Yatra convoys and to facilitate effective traffic management during the Yatra period, Baramulla Police advises all tourists and visitors intending to travel to Gulmarg to strictly comply with the traffic restrictions notified by Traffic Headquarters, Kashmir,” a police spokesperson said in a statement.

As per the notified traffic advisory, no tourist vehicle shall be permitted to proceed from Gulmarg towards Srinagar after 1700 hours (5:00 PM). Likewise, no tourist vehicle shall be allowed to travel from Srinagar towards Gulmarg after 1700 hours.

These restrictions shall remain in force throughout the notified Yatra period, the advisory said, adding that all tourists are advised to plan their travel well in advance and complete their onward and return journeys within the prescribed timings.

Tourists, hoteliers, transport operators and members of the general public were also requested to extend “full cooperation by observing the prescribed traffic regulations and planning their travel accordingly”.
