Police conducts sniper response drill in Anantnag ahead of SANJY-2026

ANANTNAG: As part of security preparations for the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY)-2026, Jammu and Kashmir Police conducted a specialised sniper response mock drill at Batangoo along the Yatra route.

The exercise was aimed at assessing the operational preparedness, precision response capability and coordination of specially trained sniper teams in handling potential security challenges during the pilgrimage.

During the drill, security personnel simulated a threat situation involving rapid deployment, strategic positioning, target identification and coordinated response while ensuring the safety of pilgrims and security forces.

The exercise involved specialised sniper teams of Anantnag Police along with other security personnel deployed for Yatra duties. Communication systems, command and control mechanisms, coordination among ground units and adherence to standard operating procedures were also tested during the drill.

Police officials said such exercises are part of ongoing efforts to strengthen security arrangements and ensure a safe and smooth conduct of SANJY-2026.
