Srinagar: The Apni Party on Friday claimed that several prominent leaders, senior workers and activists associated with the National Conference (NC) in Natipora area of Chanapora constituency resigned from the party and joined its ranks.

The new entrants were welcomed into the Apni Party fold by party President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari during a workers’ meeting organised by Natipora Ward President Arjumand Makhdoomi.

Bukhari said the joining would further strengthen the party’s organisational structure in the area and assured the new members that Apni Party would provide them a platform to work for public welfare.

The meeting discussed local public issues, grievances and organisational matters. Addressing party workers, Bukhari urged leaders and cadres to intensify outreach activities and remain connected with people at the grassroots level.

He alleged that people had become disappointed with the performance of the ruling National Conference and said it was the responsibility of Apni Party workers to highlight public concerns and work towards their resolution.

Bukhari also criticised the NC government over what he described as unfulfilled election promises, including employment generation, regularisation of daily wagers, free electricity, LPG cylinders and enhanced ration quota.

Speaking on broader issues concerning Jammu and Kashmir, he said matters including restoration of statehood, employment opportunities, release of detainees and simplification of passport-related procedures required attention and engagement with the Union Government.

He reiterated his demand for a meaningful dialogue between the Centre and the people of Jammu and Kashmir to address their concerns.

Those who joined the Apni Party included former NC Halqa President Mohammad Amin Bhat, senior worker Asadullah, Saleem Jehangir, Mohammad Aslam Dar, Dr Zahoor Ahmad, Hilal Ahmad Haqqani, Zahoor Ahmad Bhat, Idrees Ahmad, Imtiyaz Ahmad Dar, Sheikh Umar, Bilal Ahmad Dar, John Mohammad Dar, Dr Shahid, Zaid Javid, Dr Kamran, Haseeb Aslam, Adil Mushtaq Hafiz, Mohammad Younis Dar, Arslan Sajad, Liyakat Ali, Ishtiaq Ahmad, Mubashir Jahangir and others.

The event was attended by Apni Party District Srinagar Vice President Aijaz Ahmad Rather, Ward President Budshah Nagar Imran Lone, District Srinagar Committee Member Afroza Khan and other party leaders.
