Srinagar: Senior IPS officer Mahesh Dixit has been appointed as the new Director of the Intelligence Bureau (IB), India’s premier internal intelligence agency.
Dixit, a 1993-batch officer of the Telangana cadre, had earlier served as chief of the IB’s Subsidiary Intelligence Bureau (SIB) in Srinagar, overseeing intelligence operations in Jammu, Kashmir and Leh.
Officials said Dixit played an important role in strengthening intelligence coordination and monitoring security challenges during his tenure in Kashmir, particularly after the abrogation of Article 370.
His appointment comes at a time when internal security remains a key priority. Dixit will succeed the outgoing IB chief and is expected to assume charge shortly.
