Jammu: Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar and Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu Zone Bhim Sen Tuti on Wednesday reviewed preparations for the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY)-2026 at Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas and the Tawi Riverfront Token and Registration Centre.
The review was attended by senior officers from the CRPF, police, civil administration, Jammu Municipal Corporation, health, tourism, transport, fire and emergency services, and other departments involved in the annual pilgrimage.
At Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas, officials informed the Divisional Commissioner and IGP that arrangements for accommodation, drinking water, electricity, locker rooms, washrooms, illumination and other essential facilities had been completed. A health facility equipped with doctors, paramedical staff and medical supplies has also been established, along with a 24-hour control room staffed by representatives of various departments.
The officers were also briefed about the traffic management plan prepared for the pilgrimage, including cut-off timings for the movement of Yatra convoys. The administration has circulated fare rates for public transport services, including e-rickshaws, auto-rickshaws and taxis. The Divisional Commissioner and IGP stressed strict adherence to convoy departure schedules and traffic regulations.
Later, the officers visited the Token and Registration Centre at the Tawi Riverfront and reviewed arrangements for on-the-spot registration of pilgrims. They inspected security measures, frisking points, registration and token counters, drinking water facilities, German hangars and barricading arrangements.
Officials informed them that the token centre has been shifted to the Tawi Riverfront this year to provide more spacious and improved facilities for pilgrims seeking on-the-spot registration.
The visit was aimed at ensuring that all arrangements are in place for the safe and smooth conduct of the annual pilgrimage.
