SRINAGAR: The Higher Education Department has announced the Spot Round for Undergraduate and Integrated PG admissions in Government Degree Colleges across Jammu and Kashmir for the academic session 2026–27 to fill vacant seats left after the completion of Round-II admissions.
According to the notification, the Spot Round will be conducted through two parallel streams. Courses with substantial vacancies have been placed under the Walk-in Admission category, while admissions to other programmes will be made through Round-III/Direct System Allotment on the Centralised Admission Portal, based on 10+2 merit, candidate preferences, eligibility and seat availability.
Fresh registration on the admission portal, along with submission of college and programme preferences for Round-III, will remain open from June 23 to June 26. The facility is available to fresh applicants, candidates seeking walk-in admission and those already admitted in earlier rounds who wish to upgrade to another college or programme.
Walk-in admissions and document verification at colleges will be conducted from June 25 to July 2, subject to the availability of vacant seats. Candidates opting for walk-in admissions must register on the Centralised Admission Portal before reporting to the concerned college. Admission fees must be paid online through the portal.
The Round-III/Direct System Allotment list will be published on June 29. Candidates allotted seats will have to deposit the prescribed admission fee online by July 1 and complete physical verification of original documents at their allotted colleges between June 29 and July 2.
The department said candidates who did not secure admission in earlier rounds, those who failed to complete admission formalities after allotment, candidates seeking a change of college or programme and applicants whose admissions were rejected due to rectifiable deficiencies are eligible to participate. However, candidates who voluntarily cancelled their confirmed admission will not be eligible.
Fresh applicants can register through the admission portal and pay a non-refundable application fee of ₹200. Candidates who have already applied are not required to submit a fresh application or pay any additional fee.
The department has advised candidates to ensure that their mobile numbers and email addresses are correctly updated on the portal to receive admission-related information. It has also urged aspirants to make use of counselling and facilitation centres established at degree colleges for assistance with applications and preference submission.
Director Colleges, J&K, Dr Sheikh Ajaz Bashir, appealed to eligible students to utilise the Spot Round and complete all admission formalities within the prescribed timelines. He also advised candidates to regularly check the JK Admissions Portal and the official admissions WhatsApp channel for updates, allotment lists and schedules.
The department further informed that allotment of Minor, SEC, MD and other course components will be carried out after the commencement of classwork in accordance with the notified guidelines.
