Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir BJP President and Rajya Sabha MP Sat Sharma and Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma on Saturday accused the National Conference government of pursuing anti-youth policies and announced a campaign against what the party termed an “outsourcing scam”.

The remarks were made during a meeting of senior BJP leaders held at the party headquarters in Trikuta Nagar, Jammu, to discuss issues related to governance, employment and youth welfare in Jammu and Kashmir.

Addressing the meeting, Sat Sharma alleged that the Omar Abdullah-led government had failed to fulfil commitments made to the people during the 2024 Assembly elections. He claimed that the government had deviated from promises outlined in its election manifesto and called for transparent and accountable governance.

“The BJP will not allow any disservice to the people of Jammu and Kashmir, discrimination against the residents of Jammu, or any policy that compromises the future of the youth,” Sharma said.

He announced that Sunil Sharma would lead the party’s agitation against the government’s outsourcing policy, while BJP office-bearers, morchas and affiliated cells would take the campaign to the grassroots level across the Union Territory.

Speaking on the occasion, Sunil Sharma alleged that the government had failed to address the aspirations of the youth and accused it of lacking a clear vision on employment generation and youth empowerment.

He claimed that while promises of regular recruitment and transparent appointments were made, the government was now promoting outsourcing arrangements that, according to the BJP, could adversely affect employment prospects for young people.

The Leader of Opposition further alleged that such policies could leave educated youth in insecure and low-paid engagements without long-term career opportunities.

Warning of intensified protests, Sharma said the BJP would continue its opposition to the policy and would expand its agitation if the government did not reconsider what the party described as a backdoor recruitment mechanism.

Several senior BJP leaders, including office-bearers and spokespersons of the party, were present at the meeting.
