New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday said the Modi government’s “women-led development” model is advancing the respect, safety and empowerment of ‘nari shakti’.
In a post on X, Shah highlighted a range of welfare and empowerment measures undertaken during the tenure of the NDA government, which completed 12 years in office on June 10.
On the same day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi became India’s longest continuously serving elected PM.
“From ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ to over 10 crore gas connections under the Ujjwala scheme and more than 12 crore toilets, the dignity and convenience of women have been accorded the highest priority,” Shah said.
A large share of beneficiaries under the Mudra scheme are women entrepreneurs, he said.
“Through the Mudra scheme, 70 per cent of women have been linked to self-employment by providing loans without collateral. ‘Lakhpati Didi’, ‘Crorepati Didi’, and self-help groups have made them economically self-reliant. Meanwhile, the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam has paved the way for 33 per cent participation of women in politics,” he added.
Shah said the impact of these initiatives is visible across diverse fields.
“The result of this is that today women are playing leading roles in every field, including the Army, space, sports, research and industry,” he said.
