Jammu: In a major operational initiative, the Northern Railway’s Jammu Division has created an additional rake to prevent the persistent delays of the Pooja Express, an official said on Sunday.
The train number 12413/12414 had been running 15-20 hours late for an extended period due to traffic blocks and operational regulations in the Delhi Division, affecting passenger convenience and railway operations, the official said.
He said the primary maintenance of this daily train, connecting Ajmer (Rajasthan) and Jammu Tawi is done in Jammu, but due to persistent delays, improving its punctuality had become a big challenge. This delay was causing great inconvenience to passengers and was affecting the image of Railways, he added.
To address the issue, Jammu Division, in coordination with Railway Headquarters, identified and assembled an additional rake by arranging the required coaches and carrying out planned shunting and coach-linking operations.
As a result, train number 12414 resumed operation as per its scheduled timing from June 7, providing immediate relief to passengers and improving service reliability, the official said.
Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Uchit Singhal said the initiative demonstrated how innovation, coordination and commitment could effectively overcome operational challenges and enhance passenger services.
