Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir National Conference Provincial President Kashmir, Showkat Mir, has expressed concern over the widespread damage caused by the recent hailstorm across several parts of the Kashmir Valley and urged the administration to provide immediate relief to affected farmers and orchardists.
In a statement, Mir said the hailstorm caused extensive damage to orchards, standing crops and horticultural produce, severely impacting thousands of families dependent on agriculture and horticulture for their livelihoods.
He called upon the divisional administration to conduct a comprehensive assessment of the losses by deploying teams from the Revenue, Horticulture and Agriculture departments in all affected areas. He stressed the need for transparent surveys and timely disbursement of compensation to the affected growers.
“The administration must act swiftly to mitigate the hardships faced by our farmers and orchardists. Immediate relief measures and fair compensation are essential to safeguard their livelihoods and help them recover from this natural calamity,” Mir said.
Meanwhile, all National Conference legislators and constituency in-charges from the affected areas have been directed to remain on the ground and maintain close contact with the affected population.
Mir also expressed confidence that the administration, under the guidance of Javid Ahmad Dar, would take the necessary measures for relief and rehabilitation of those affected by the hailstorm.
