Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir is likely to experience generally hot and dry weather conditions until June 10, with only isolated light rain and brief afternoon thundershowers expected at a few places, according to the latest weather forecast.
The Meteorological Department has predicted no major weather disturbances over the next four days, although isolated showers and thundershowers may occur in some areas.
Day temperatures are expected to remain above normal across several parts of the Union Territory, particularly in the Jammu region. The Kashmir Valley is also likely to witness relatively warm weather during this period.
A change in weather is expected from June 11 onwards. Forecasts indicate partly to generally cloudy skies between June 11 and June 14, accompanied by light rain, brief intense showers, thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds at scattered to many places across Jammu and Kashmir.
According to the Meteorological Centre Srinagar, isolated light rain and thundershowers may occur during the next 24 hours, with similar conditions expected to continue for the following two days.
During the past 24 hours, light rainfall was reported from a few locations across the Union Territory. Srinagar recorded the highest maximum temperature in Kashmir division at 27.9°C, while Kathua registered 40.2°C in the Jammu division.
Night temperatures in the Valley remained below normal at several places, with Pahalgam recording a minimum temperature of 6.8°C.
Authorities have advised residents, farmers and travellers to keep track of weather updates, particularly from June 11 onward when thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds are likely to affect several areas.
