DC Bandipora reviews Amarnath Yatra preparations, inspects Shadipora Transit Camp

Bandipora: Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, Indu Kanwal Chib, on Monday reviewed arrangements for the forthcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY)-2026 and directed all departments to ensure timely completion of facilities for pilgrims.

The review meeting was held at Dak Bungalow Sumbal and attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Zaffar Hussain Shawl, Additional Superintendent of Police Bandipora Mir Murtaza, SDM Sumbal Murtaza Ahmad and officers from the district administration, Police, Army, CRPF and various line departments associated with the pilgrimage.

During the meeting, a comprehensive review was undertaken of arrangements related to drinking water supply, electricity, healthcare, sanitation, traffic management, transportation and other essential services. Officers also briefed the Deputy Commissioner about the preparedness and ongoing works at the Shadipora Transit Camp.

Chib stressed the need for close coordination among all stakeholder departments and directed officers to complete all pending works well ahead of the commencement of the yatra.

She emphasized that adequate facilities must be ensured for the convenience, safety and comfort of devotees undertaking the annual pilgrimage.

Earlier, the Deputy Commissioner conducted an on-site inspection of the Shadipora Transit Camp to assess the arrangements on the ground. She reviewed the status of infrastructure and other facilities being developed for pilgrims and directed the concerned departments to expedite the remaining works.

During the inspection, she stressed the importance of ensuring that all facilities are fully functional before the arrival of pilgrims and that no gaps remain in the arrangements.

The Deputy Commissioner reiterated that seamless coordination among all departments is essential for the smooth conduct of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2026.

She directed officers to maintain close monitoring of all preparatory works and ensure timely completion of assigned tasks. Emphasising a proactive approach, Chib said all arrangements should be put in place well in advance to provide pilgrims with a safe, comfortable and hassle-free journey.
