Kulgam: Minister for Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare and Education, Sakeena Itoo on Saturday inaugurated a mega Job Fair at Malvan in Kulgam district, organized by the District Administration under Mission YUVA to promote employment, entrepreneurship and youth empowerment.

The job fair witnessed participation of companies from various sectors, providing local youth an opportunity to interact with prospective employers, explore career options and apply for jobs. The Minister also distributed sanction letters and offer letters among beneficiaries under Mission YUVA.

Addressing the gathering, Sakeena Itoo emphasized the importance of creating sustainable employment opportunities for young people and reiterated the government’s commitment towards youth welfare, skill development and economic empowerment. She encouraged youth to take advantage of various government schemes aimed at enhancing employability and fostering entrepreneurship.

The Minister interacted with representatives of participating companies, officials and job seekers and appreciated the efforts of the District Administration in connecting local youth with employment opportunities.

Deputy Commissioner Kulgam, Shahzad Alam, highlighted the objectives of Mission YUVA and stressed the need to create a strong entrepreneurial ecosystem in the district. He called for promoting innovation, enterprise and skill development to encourage youth to become job creators.

The programme also featured awareness sessions on Mission YUVA and other government initiatives relating to skill development, financial assistance, entrepreneurship and livelihood generation. Students and Self-Help Groups (SHGs) set up stalls showcasing their products, innovations and entrepreneurial ventures.

During her visit to Malvan, Sakeena Itoo also laid the foundation stone for construction of an additional classroom at Government Primary School Showgund.

The Minister said strengthening educational infrastructure remains a priority to ensure a better learning environment for students and improve facilities in schools across the region.

She later distributed Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) kits among students of Government Primary School Dangerpora, aimed at promoting activity-based learning and strengthening foundational education.

Interacting with students, teachers and local residents, the Minister underscored the importance of early childhood education and stressed the need to ensure quality education at the grassroots level.

Deputy Commissioner Kulgam Shahzad Alam, Director School Education Kashmir and senior officers of the Education Department and district administration accompanied the Minister during the visit.
