Shopian: Continuing its crackdown on illegal mining activities, Jammu and Kashmir Police in Shopian have seized five vehicles, including four tractors and a tipper, allegedly involved in the unauthorized extraction and transportation of minerals from different areas of the district.
According to police, a team from Police Station Heerpora intercepted and seized three tractors and a tipper in the Borihalan area for transporting minerals without valid royalty documents. Following the seizure, FIR No. 47/2026 was registered at Police Station Heerpora under relevant provisions of law and an investigation has been initiated.
In a separate operation, a police team from Police Station Zainapora seized a tractor allegedly involved in the illegal extraction and transportation of minerals without the required permissions in the Sugan area.
Police said FIR No. 79/2026 has been registered at Police Station Zainapora and further investigation is underway.
Police reiterated their commitment to curbing illegal mining activities and warned that strict action will continue against individuals involved in unauthorized extraction and transportation of minerals.
