Budgam: Speaker of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Abdul Rahim Rather on Sunday inaugurated a New Type Primary Health Centre (NTPHC) at Challyan in the Charar-e-Sharief constituency, describing it as a significant step towards strengthening healthcare infrastructure in the area.
The Speaker said the new health facility would substantially improve medical services and bring quality healthcare closer to the local population.
Following the inauguration, Abdul Rahim Rather addressed a large public gathering and highlighted the government’s developmental initiatives and welfare programmes aimed at improving the socio-economic conditions of the region.
He said the administration remains committed to equitable development and ensuring easy access to essential public services.
“The government is deeply committed to providing quality basic facilities to the people. Priority sectors such as healthcare, roads, education, electricity and clean drinking water are receiving unprecedented attention. The inauguration of this NTPHC reflects our resolve to ensure that no citizen has to travel long distances to access basic medical care,” he said.
Recalling the establishment of the health centre in 1979-80, the Speaker said it reflected his long-standing commitment towards serving remote, underdeveloped and underprivileged communities.
“Today, roads, drinking water facilities, healthcare, electricity and education have reached almost every corner of this constituency, and people are benefiting from these services at their doorsteps,” he added.
The Speaker also elaborated on various ongoing government schemes and urged residents to actively avail themselves of the benefits being provided under different welfare and development programmes.
He assured the public that the government would continue to accelerate infrastructure development and public welfare projects to ensure comprehensive growth and improve the overall quality of life of citizens.
The event was attended by the Chief Medical Officer Budgam, senior administrative officers, health department officials, prominent citizens and local residents.
