The company stated that the proposed tunnel is located approximately 400 metres inside the mountain cover, with an additional lateral cover ranging between 300 and 500 metres, which it said ensures the safety of construction activities.

NHPC further informed that any blasting required during execution of the project would be carried out through controlled techniques under the supervision of NHPC experts and government-approved national-level technical institutions.

Describing the Uri-I Stage-II Hydroelectric Project as a project of national importance, the company said the safety and security of local residents and establishments had been duly considered during the preparation of the Detailed Project Report (DPR).

The organisation reiterated its commitment to complying with all prescribed safety standards, technical norms and regulatory requirements throughout the execution of the project.
