6 drug peddlers arrested

Srinagar: Police have arrested six drug peddlers in Baramulla, Pulwama and Anantnag, officials said Monday.

Sharing details, a police spokesperson informed that during checking at Jhandiya Dardkote on Uri, police arrested Waseem Ahmad Mangral of Nambla Uri. During the search, approximately 60.5 grams of cannabis was recovered from his possession.

In the Madiya area of Kamalkote, police arrested a local resident Muhammad Safir Sheikh  after 29 grams of cannabis-like substance was recovered from him.

In Pulwama, Mohammad Aslam Malik of Hanji Mohallah Bongam Kakapora and Nasir Ahmad Dar of New Colony Kakapora, were arrested after approximately 273 grams of heroin-like substance was recovered from a scooty (JK13H-6074) they were riding at Parigam Khalsa.

In Anantnag, police arrested Nazir Ahmed Sheikh of Trail, at Sakhras Crossing Chowk. Around 6.566 kilograms of ‘ganja’ (marijuana)-like substance was recovered from him.

Near Tangpawa Petrol Pump, a vehicle (RJ38TA-1602) was intercepted and a brown sugar-like substance concealed inside its dashboard drawer was recovered. The driver, identified as Huzaif Ahmad Ganai of Soaf Shali Kokernag, was arrested on the spot.

Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and investigations initiated, police said.
