Addressing students, educators, parents and dignitaries, Satish Sharma stressed the need for holistic development of youth and emphasized the importance of nurturing values, character and resilience alongside academic excellence.

He described education as a transformative force that extends beyond academic achievement and said it must promote character, discipline, integrity and social responsibility along with intellectual growth.

The Minister appreciated The Times of India for creating a platform connecting students with opportunities and inspiration, stating that such initiatives help shape aspirations and guide young minds towards meaningful careers and brighter futures.

Highlighting the importance of health and nutrition, Satish Sharma urged youth to adopt healthy lifestyles and informed food choices. He stressed that a healthy body forms the foundation for academic excellence and overall success.

The Minister strongly advocated the role of sports in building discipline, resilience and character among young people.

Expressing concern over the growing menace of drug abuse, he cautioned that substance abuse threatens the future of society and can derail promising lives and careers.

“Sports create strong minds and strong character. A culture of sports encourages discipline, determination and positive engagement among youth. We must collectively strengthen this culture and inspire our young generation to choose healthy pathways,” he said.

Satish Sharma reiterated the government’s commitment towards strengthening sports infrastructure, expanding opportunities for youth participation and creating a supportive ecosystem for talent development across Jammu and Kashmir.

He urged students to reject drugs and embrace sports, discipline and constructive pursuits.

Calling for a broader understanding of education, the Minister said true education is not merely the accumulation of information but the cultivation of responsible individuals capable of serving society selflessly.

“The future of Jammu and Kashmir lies in the strength, character and aspirations of its youth. We must empower them with opportunities, values and confidence,” he added.

The Minister also encouraged students to remain confident, work hard and contribute positively towards society and nation-building.
