Kulgam: Minister for Health and Medical Education, Social Welfare and Education Sakeena Itoo on Saturday inaugurated a Primary School at Satrajan Bangiward in DH Pora area of Kulgam district and laid the foundation stone for an Additional Classroom (ACR) building at Government Middle School Bangiward.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister reiterated the government’s commitment towards strengthening educational infrastructure, particularly in rural and far-flung areas of Jammu and Kashmir.
“Strengthening the education sector and ensuring access to quality education in underserved areas is what our government strives for,” she said.
Sakeena Itoo stated that the new primary school would benefit local students by providing improved academic facilities closer to their homes, while the additional classroom block at GMS Bangiward would help improve the learning environment and accommodate increasing student enrolment.
She also directed the concerned officers to ensure timely completion of ongoing educational projects while maintaining quality standards.
Later, the Minister held a public darbar at Bangiward where residents from adjoining areas projected various public grievances and developmental demands related to road connectivity, drinking water supply, healthcare, electricity and school infrastructure.
The Minister gave a patient hearing to the grievances and assured the public that all genuine issues would be addressed in a phased and time-bound manner.
She directed officers to take immediate action on pressing issues and ensure improved public service delivery at the grassroots level.
Sakeena Itoo said that direct public outreach programmes help strengthen responsive governance and bridge the gap between the administration and the people.
Several delegations and individuals also submitted memorandums regarding local developmental requirements, to which the Minister assured priority consideration in coordination with the concerned departments.
Local residents, parents and school staff appreciated the initiatives and expressed gratitude for addressing educational and infrastructural needs of the area.
