Div Com Kashmir reviews preparations for SANJY-2026

Srinagar: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Anshul Garg on Thursday chaired a high-level meeting to review preparations for the annual Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY)-2026.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioners of Anantnag, Srinagar, Ganderbal and Bandipora, Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation and senior officers from departments including Health, FCS&CA, Rural Sanitation, PHE, KPDCL, R&B, Animal Husbandry, Labour and BEACON.

Representatives from telecom companies including BSNL, Jio, Airtel and G-Max were also present.

Reviewing the registration process for service providers, the Divisional Commissioner stressed expediting registrations to achieve the target of 28,000 service providers, including pony operators.

He directed authorities to ensure timely generation of RFID cards for all registered service providers by May 30.

Anshul Garg also reviewed the development of pony stands and was informed that infrastructure works including fencing and construction of sheds have been completed.

He instructed officials to conduct health check-ups of ponies and ensure adequate fodder supply along the yatra routes.

The meeting also reviewed telecom connectivity and bandwidth arrangements at base camps and along the pilgrimage routes up to the holy cave.

The Divisional Commissioner directed telecom companies to ensure uninterrupted and efficient network services during the pilgrimage period and asked Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) to ensure uninterrupted power supply to telecom installations.

Snow clearance operations, construction of gabion and breast walls and repair works along the yatra tracks were also reviewed.

Deputy Commissioners were directed to personally inspect repair and maintenance works along the pilgrimage routes.

To facilitate smooth movement of pilgrims, the Divisional Commissioner called for augmentation of staff at yatri registration counters and directed rationalisation of counters in view of direct railway connectivity to Srinagar.

He also reviewed the process of tent allotment at base camps and directed concerned committees to conduct mandatory fire safety audits.

Developmental works being executed by departments including PHE, KPDCL, R&B, I&FC, SDA, PDA, Tourism Department and Urban Local Bodies were also reviewed during the meeting.

Preparations related to SDRF, Information Department, Health Services, Transport Department, FCS&CA and sanitation services were comprehensively discussed.
