Motherhood is one of the purest and most selfless blessings in human life. A mother’s love, care, sacrifices, and prayers shape families, nurture societies, and guide generations toward compassion, kindness, and responsibility. From teaching a child how to speak and behave to standing beside them during moments of hardship, a mother remains the first teacher, strongest support, and greatest source of comfort in every person’s life.
In my opinion, every day is Mother’s Day, not just one specific date on the calendar. Respect, love, care, and gratitude for mothers should never be limited to a single day. These feelings must be expressed every day through our words, actions, and behaviour. Whenever I leave my home, I always say to my mother, “Mumma, mai jati hun,” and she replies with prayers: “Jawo Allah kay hawale, Rab aapko kamyabi aur safar asaan ho.” These prayers become the beginning of my day and give me strength wherever I go. And when I return home, the first thing I do is greet my mother with love and respect. Such small moments reflect the deep bond between a mother and her child, a bond built on prayers, care, affection, and unconditional love.
We also need to teach our children good morals, respect for parents, kindness toward elders, and compassion for younger people. A child who learns respect at home grows into a responsible and caring member of society. Mothers play the most important role in building the character of children with love, patience, affection, and guidance. The values taught by mothers shape not only families but entire communities.
As we know, Islam has given immense honour and respect to mothers. A famous saying reminds us, “Maa kay kadmu kay nechy janat hai,” meaning paradise lies beneath the feet of mothers. This teaches humanity the elevated status of mothers in Islam and reminds us that serving, respecting, and caring for our mothers is among the greatest deeds in life.
Disturbing videos circulated on social media showing parents being mistreated and even beaten by their own children. Such incidents were heartbreaking, unbearable, and deeply painful to witness, especially in the Kashmir Valley, often known as Peer Vaer, the land of saints, spirituality, and moral values. These incidents remind society that we must work harder to pass good morals, respect, discipline, empathy, and humanity from one generation to another. Families play the most important role in nurturing children with kindness and respect so that such behaviour never becomes normal in society.
Mothers work tirelessly every single day without expecting appreciation or reward. Mothers’ Day does not exist, nor is there any such thing as Mothers’ Sunday, nor do they have any day off from their duties. Mothers go on serving their families from morning till evening without giving any sign of fatigue or annoyance. The sacrifices that mothers make become a base for their families.
If we can live, grow, study, succeed, and move forward in life, much of the credit belongs to our mothers. No child can repay a mother’s sacrifices, not even for a single night of pain she bears while carrying her child in her womb. After birth, mothers sacrifice their sleep, comfort, health, and peace to care for their children. Their love remains unconditional in every stage of life.
Nothing in words, speeches, or literary works can depict the dedication, devotion, and continuous love of the mother for her family and offspring. The love of the mother is an everlasting one, and she is like an endless source of peace and strength.
Mother’s Day is celebrated across the world to honour mothers and thank them for their endless devotion and sacrifices. However, motherhood should never be remembered for only one day. Mothers deserve love, respect, support, and appreciation every single day of their lives.
Behind every strong family and every responsible generation stands the silent strength, prayers, patience, and sacrifices of a mother.
