Srinagar: Delegates of the Committee on Government Assurances of the Bihar Legislative Council, Minority Welfare Committee of the Bihar Legislative Assembly and Committee on Government Assurances of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly on Monday visited the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly and called on Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather.
The Speaker welcomed the visiting delegations and highlighted the role of Committees on Government Assurances in ensuring transparency and accountability in governance.
He said interaction with committees from other states helps in understanding diverse legislative systems and strengthens democratic institutions through collaborative engagement.
The visit focused on exchange of knowledge regarding legislative work culture and procedural functioning of the respective committees.
Officials said the interaction marked an important step towards strengthening inter-state cooperation between legislative bodies.
During the meeting, delegates shared best practices and discussed evolving mechanisms for ensuring government accountability through the assurance process.
The discussions also focused on strengthening frameworks for monitoring and implementation of government assurances made on the floor of the House.
The visiting delegations appreciated the functioning of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly and expressed satisfaction over the exchange of ideas and legislative practices during the visit.
