Jammu: Minister for Education, Social Welfare, Health and Medical Education Sakeena Itoo on Thursday presided over the renaming ceremony of Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Gandhi Nagar, Jammu.

The institution has been renamed as “Shri Kuldip Kumar Badyal Memorial Government Boys Higher Secondary School, Gandhi Nagar” in honour of late educationist Kuldip Kumar Badyal.

The function was attended by MLA Bahu Vikram Randhawa, Deputy Commissioner Jammu Dr. Rakesh Minhas, Director School Education Jammu Naseem Javaid Chowdhary, Director Health Services Jammu Poonam Sethi, family members of the late educationist, faculty members and students.

Addressing the gathering, Sakeena Itoo paid tributes to the late educationist and described him as a visionary who made significant contributions to the education sector.

She said renaming the institution after Shri Kuldip Kumar Badyal was a befitting tribute to his dedication and service towards shaping the future of students.

The Minister said Chief Minister Omar Abdullah had announced the renaming of the institution while inaugurating the statue of the late educationist at the school last year.

She said educators like Shri Badyal continue to inspire generations through their commitment and contribution towards society and education.

The Minister reiterated the government’s commitment towards strengthening the education sector and preserving the legacy of individuals who have contributed immensely to social and educational development.

Speaking on the occasion, Vikram Randhawa and other dignitaries recalled the role played by the late educationist in promoting quality education and mentoring students.

During the event, the Minister also unveiled the newly-installed name board of the institution and paid floral tributes at the statue of the late principal.
