SRINAGAR: Apni Party President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari on Sunday took a dig at the Jammu and Kashmir government, saying it should draw inspiration from the newly elected Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, who announced a set of welfare measures, including 200 units of free electricity for every household.
Bukhari said the promise of providing 200 units of free electricity had also been made by the ruling National Conference during the 2024 Assembly election campaign.
Taking to microblogging platform X, Altaf Bukhari wrote, “Lucky are the people of Tamil Nadu who gave their mandate to a leader who stands by his word. Newly sworn-in Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay has announced his first set of decisions, including 200 units of free electricity for every household.”
Urging the Jammu and Kashmir government to take inspiration from the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, he said, “He has proved that it is possible if there is political will. I wish those elected by the people of J&K in the 2024 elections would take inspiration from Tamil Nadu’s CM and fulfil at least some of the commitments they made during their election campaign.”
In another sharp remark, Bukhari said, “You took people’s votes by making fake promises and tall claims, but remember that these blatant lies will remain in the collective memory of the people. As they say, ‘You cannot fool all the people all the time.’ People will ultimately hold you responsible and accountable for misleading manifestos and unfulfilled promises.”
