Anantnag: In a significant move under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyaan, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Anantnag, Amod Ashok Nagpure, has ordered the auction of a vehicle used in narcotics trafficking, marking the first such initiative in Jammu and Kashmir under the provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Police said the vehicle bearing registration number DL8CR0936 had been seized in connection with a narcotics case and was ordered for disposal after obtaining the necessary legal sanction from the competent court under Section 52-A of the NDPS Act.
Officials termed the move a landmark step in the fight against drug trafficking, aimed at dismantling the infrastructure used for narcotics trade and preventing the reuse of assets involved in illegal activities.
Police said the action reflects the department’s firm resolve to intensify measures against drug networks operating in the region and ensure that properties and vehicles used in drug-related offences are not allowed to return to circulation.
The initiative forms part of the broader anti-drug campaign being carried out across Jammu and Kashmir under the Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyaan.
