Senior district officers, including the Additional Commissioner Development (ACD) Kulgam, Chief Education Officer, Chief Medical Officer, and a large number of local residents, were present on the occasion.

Addressing the gathering, the Minister said the government is focused on developing tourism infrastructure in lesser-known destinations across Jammu and Kashmir while ensuring modern facilities for tourists as well as local residents.

She said Panchanpatri and its adjoining areas possess immense tourism potential owing to their natural beauty, serene surroundings, and rich ecological heritage.

“The Omar Abdullah-led government is working with a focused vision to transform tourism into a major driver of economic growth and employment generation in Jammu and Kashmir. Development of infrastructure and public amenities at tourist destinations is essential for attracting visitors and creating livelihood opportunities for local communities,” Sakeena Itoo said.

The Minister added that the government is making concerted efforts to improve road connectivity, tourism infrastructure, and civic amenities in remote and rural areas so that these regions are brought onto the tourism map of Jammu and Kashmir.

“Our aim is not only to promote tourism but also to ensure inclusive development and socio-economic upliftment of the people living in these areas,” she added.

During the visit, local residents apprised the Minister of various developmental issues and demands related to tourism infrastructure, road connectivity, and public services in the area.

Giving a patient hearing to the grievances raised by the locals, the Minister assured them that all genuine issues would be addressed on priority. She reiterated the government’s commitment towards equitable and holistic development across all regions of Jammu and Kashmir, with special emphasis on strengthening rural infrastructure and creating employment opportunities for youth.

Sakeena Itoo also stressed the need to preserve the ecological and environmental significance of tourist destinations while carrying out developmental activities. She called for coordinated efforts between government departments and local stakeholders to promote sustainable tourism in the region.

Earlier, the Minister visited Khuribatpora area of the district and met families affected by a recent fire incident. She expressed solidarity with the affected families and assured them of all possible government assistance and support.

Reiterating the government’s commitment towards public welfare, the Minister directed the concerned authorities to ensure timely relief and necessary support for the affected families.
