Jammu: The Congress has expressed concern over the recent increase in prices of commercial LPG and transport fares, warning that further hikes in essential commodities may follow.
Reacting to what it described as a sharp rise in commercial LPG prices over the past couple of months, the party criticised the handling of the situation by the Central government. It said the increase comes despite earlier assurances by the government regarding adequate energy management.
Ravinder Sharma, Chief Spokesperson of the J&K Pradesh Congress Committee, said the rising prices have added to the burden on common people, who are already grappling with inflation.
He also referred to Rahul Gandhi, stating that the Congress leader had earlier cautioned about possible increases in the prices of essential commodities, particularly fuel and gas.
Sharma alleged that further hikes in domestic LPG, petrol, and diesel prices may occur in the coming days, citing past trends. He criticised the Centre for what he termed inadequate planning in fuel and gas management.
The Congress leader also expressed concern over the recent hike in transport fares in Jammu and Kashmir, stating that it has further strained household budgets.
He urged the government to take immediate steps to control rising prices and provide relief to the common people.
