Visakhapatnam: The Tripartite Portfolio Review Meeting (TPRM) of International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD)-supported projects, including the Jammu and Kashmir Competitiveness Improvement of Agriculture and Allied Sectors Project (JKCIP), was held in Visakhapatnam under the chairpersonship of Anu Mathai, Additional Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs, Government of India.

JKCIP, an IFAD-supported initiative being implemented in Jammu and Kashmir, aims to enhance agricultural productivity, strengthen farmer institutions, promote agribusiness and entrepreneurship, and improve market linkages across the value chain. The project follows an ecosystem-based approach, integrating farmers, youth, institutions, and infrastructure to drive inclusive and sustainable growth in agriculture and allied sectors.

The meeting brought together senior officials from the Government of India, International Fund for Agricultural Development, and project implementing agencies to review progress, assess outcomes, and discuss strategies for strengthening implementation.

Mission Director HADP/JKCIP Dr. Sagar D. Dattatray, along with IFAD Country Director Marc J. de Souza, presented an overview of progress made under the project in Jammu and Kashmir.

During the review, the Department of Economic Affairs expressed satisfaction over key developments, including the onboarding of the Project Management Unit, conduct of the Startup Mission, and organisation of Implementation Support Missions in the Union Territory. These steps were highlighted as important in strengthening institutional mechanisms and accelerating project execution.

The Mission Director informed that the project will adopt a strategy of front-loading activities in the financial year 2026–27 to offset initial delays and ensure faster delivery of outcomes across all components.

The discussions emphasised the need for continued coordination between the Department of Economic Affairs, IFAD, and the Jammu and Kashmir government to improve efficiency, strengthen monitoring systems, and achieve the intended impact.

The meeting concluded with all stakeholders reaffirming their commitment to further strengthen implementation and ensure that JKCIP contributes effectively to the transformation of agriculture and allied sectors in Jammu and Kashmir.
