Jammu:  Senior Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh leader Indresh Kumar on Wednesday appealed to the people of Jammu and Kashmir and the country to celebrate ‘Operation Sindoor’ as a ‘military victory day’.

Describing it as a symbol of India’s indigenous strength and success, Kumar said the observance should also serve as a moment of pride and boost morale of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

“I appeal to the people of Jammu and Kashmir and the entire country to celebrate ‘Operation Sindoor’ as a military victory day and as a symbol of India’s indigenous strength and success. Let it also serve as a moment of pride for the morale of Jammu and Kashmir,” he told reporters on the sidelines of a function here.

Referring to an incident in Pahalgam a year ago, he said India had faced a “highly inhumane and heinous act of terrorism led by Pakistan,” adding that the Indian armed forces responded “in the interest of humanity and justice”.

He said “within four days of continuous operations, including a brief period of intense action, Pakistan’s airports were destroyed, terrorists were neutralised, Turkish drones were shot down, and several military installations were targeted.”

He said, “At the same time, care was taken to not harm the civilians of Pakistan.”

Kumar termed the operation a “major victory” that brought pride to the nation and strengthened India’s global standing.

“It has reinforced the belief that India stands as a guiding force in the world,” he said.

Kumar criticised Pakistan, alleging that it has not evolved into a nation guided by humanitarian values.

“India’s constitutional framework and national ethos remain among the best globally,” he said.

Kumar urged leaders, both in Pakistan and India, to maintain dignity in public discourse and act responsibly.

Stressing the cost of prolonged conflict, Kumar said, “Repeated wars have only led to backwardness, illiteracy, unemployment and bloodshed. Even now, it is important to act wisely and avoid conflict, especially for the sake of the youth.”
