Jammu: The 11th National Conference and Exhibition on Emerging and Innovative Trends in Engineering Technology (NCEEITET) concluded at Government College of Engineering and Technology Jammu after a two-day event that brought together academicians, industry experts, policymakers and students from across the country.
Organised in technical collaboration with Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, the conference served as a platform to deliberate on emerging trends, foster innovation and explore new research avenues in engineering and technology.
The valedictory session was chaired by Additional Chief Secretary, Power Development Department Ashwani Kumar and featured prize distribution and awards. In his address, he described the conference as a vital platform for promoting innovation, research and interdisciplinary collaboration. He appreciated the technology exhibits as innovative and engaging, noting that such hands-on exposure is crucial for shaping students’ future careers and advancing the vision of Atmanirbhar Bharat.
Highlighting the theme—“Application of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in Tourism Development in Jammu & Kashmir”—he said the integration of AI and ML can significantly enhance tourism planning, management and visitor experience. He further stressed that modern governance increasingly relies on technical inputs, and institutions like GCET can play a key role in offering innovative solutions across sectors such as power, tourism and infrastructure.
Managing Director, JKPDC Rahul Yadav, who was the guest of honour, shared insights on emerging technologies, particularly their application in the power sector. He emphasised bridging the gap between theoretical learning and field implementation, encouraging students to work on real-world engineering challenges.
Faculty members from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, including Professor Raja Dutta and Professor Prabir Kumar Biswas, highlighted the importance of a multidisciplinary approach to align technological innovation with socio-economic needs. They also commended the enthusiasm and potential of GCET students and assured continued support for future research.
The conference featured technical sessions, expert talks, panel discussions, paper presentations and a technology exhibition showcasing cutting-edge ideas and solutions. It facilitated meaningful knowledge exchange and exposure to emerging technologies.
Several reputed organisations and companies, including NHPC Limited, Chenab Valley Power Projects Limited, NTPC Limited, Power Finance Corporation, National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited, Indian Energy Exchange, Schneider Electric, Patel Engineering Limited, Jammu and Kashmir Power Development Corporation, Jammu and Kashmir Bank and Jammu and Kashmir Energy Development Agency, among others, showcased their technological innovations.
In her concluding remarks, Principal/Director GCET Dr. Sameru Sharma said the knowledge gained and connections built during the conference would contribute significantly to future research, innovation and professional growth of participants.
The event was attended by several dignitaries, including Habib Chowdhary, Vivek Sharma, Saurab Sarn, Dr. Raj Kumar and Ishan Verma, along with senior executives from various industries and CPSUs.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by event coordinator Er. Sheetal Gandotra, followed by a vibrant cultural performance by students.
