North Kashmir Volleyball Premier League held in memory of Capt Vishal Bhandral

SRINAGAR: The Capt Vishal Bhandral, Kirti Chakra North Kashmir Volleyball Premier League 2025-26 concluded in Bandipora after witnessing enthusiastic participation from teams and spectators across North Kashmir.

Organised annually in memory of Vishal Bhandral, the tournament is held to honour his supreme sacrifice in the line of duty. Over the years, the event has emerged as one of the most prominent sporting competitions in North Kashmir, reflecting the growing enthusiasm of Kashmiri youth for volleyball.

This year’s tournament was organised in two phases. In the first phase, volleyball matches were held at Manasbal, Pohrupet, Charkut and Haiderbeg from March 23 to March 28, 2026.

The matches attracted a large number of spectators and generated a vibrant sporting atmosphere across North Kashmir.

The second phase of the tournament was held in Bandipora from April 6 to April 21, in which the winners of the first phase competed for the title.

During the tournament, participating teams displayed remarkable skill, discipline and sportsmanship.

The final match was played on April 21 at Sher-e-Kashmir Stadium between the Safapora Volleyball Team and Jahama Warriors.

The event was attended by the General Officer Commanding, Counter Insurgency Force (Kilo), along with officials of the district administration, Jammu and Kashmir Police and paramilitary forces.

The presence of senior officials highlighted the significance of the tournament as a symbol of unity, shared progress and the promotion of sports culture in the region.

The organisers said this year’s edition of the North Kashmir Volleyball Premier League would be remembered as a landmark celebration of sportsmanship, passion and unity among the local population, while paying a befitting tribute to the legacy of Vishal Bhandral.
